{"id":24194,"date":"2023-08-24T08:30:18","date_gmt":"2023-08-24T12:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fluvannareview.com\/?p=24194"},"modified":"2023-08-24T08:30:18","modified_gmt":"2023-08-24T12:30:18","slug":"fluvanna-deputies-and-state-police-serve-warrant-on-ruritan-lake-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fluvannareview.com\/2023\/08\/fluvanna-deputies-and-state-police-serve-warrant-on-ruritan-lake-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Fluvanna deputies and state police serve warrant on Ruritan Lake Road"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Heather Michon<br>Correspondent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents along Ruritan Lake Road (Rt 619) noticed a major law enforcement presence on Thursday evening (Aug. 17), reporting on local social media pages that the road was blocked for a time as camouflage officers in what looked \u201clike an army tank\u201d moved on a residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lt. Aaron Hurd of the Fluvanna County Sheriff\u2019s Office (FCSO) said three individuals were arrested at the scene: Kenneth Allen Walton, 34, Melissa Gail Dudley, 37, and Jessie Marie Cromer, 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each was charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count of possession of a Schedule I\/II controlled substance, and one count of possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FCSO requested Virginia State Police (VSP) support in serving the warrant. \u201cThey have the tactical team resources to secure the scene for us,\u201d he said. \u201cOnce it was secured, they departed, and the searches and arrests were made by the Sheriff\u2019s Office.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tactical team approached in an armored personnel carrier, dressed in \u201csubdued green uniforms,\u201d Herd added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of Ruritan Lake Road was closed to traffic for about 10 minutes. \u201cWe realize that is inconvenient for the public, but we felt it was necessary to provide space for the law enforcement assets to safely conduct the initial part of the response,\u201d he said. \u201cOnce the scene was secure and law enforcement vehicles were able to be removed from the state road, it was reopened.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with VSP, Herd said the department was also assisted by the Fluvanna Department of Social Services and the Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement Task Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All three suspects were arraigned in General District Court on Monday (Aug. 21) and are currently being held without bond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Heather MichonCorrespondent Residents along Ruritan Lake Road (Rt 619) noticed a major law enforcement presence on Thursday evening (Aug. 17), reporting on local social media pages that the road was blocked for a time as camouflage officers in what looked \u201clike an army tank\u201d moved on a residence.
