The Fluvanna winners were Jorge Rosario of Palmyra and Mike Sheridan of Kents Store, according to a press release from the law firm.<\/p>\n
The person who nominated Rosario described him this way: \u201cJorge believes in giving back to the community. Over the years, he has held charity events to help Habitat for Humanity, the Children\u2019s Hospital, and several individuals with serious illnesses. Jorge has done whatever he could to support and help local businesses survive during the recession. \u201cHe is the type of person who is willing to help everyone, whether he knows them or not,\u201d says his nominator.<\/p>\n
The person who nominated Sheridan described him this way: \u201cIf you need help, all you have to do is ask Mike and he will be there,\u201d writes his nominator. Outside of his job as a coach and teacher at Fluvanna Middle School, Mike is able to fit in at least 40 volunteer hours a week. A great asset to Fluvanna County, he is founder of Helping Hands in Fluvanna, a volunteer firefighter, and a leader of his church\u2019s youth ministry. In the community, Mike serves as a father figure to many children who don\u2019t have a father and is viewed by many as an angel sent to protect, comfort, and lead Fluvanna.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The personal injury law firm of Allen & Allen has selected its 50 Hometown Heroes from throughout the state, including two residents of Fluvanna County.<\/p>\n
The law firm, which has offices in Charlottesville, said it chooses the winners from throughout the state who are responsible for \u201ccommunity initiatives and acts of kindness.\u201d<\/p>\n
